“Leiden Ranking” is the ranking of universities in the world based on qualitative levels of theses of universities’ research capabilities evaluated by Leiden University in Netherlands.As the ranking is calculated based on the number of papers and the ratio of paper citations excluding subjective qualitative evaluation factors such as university reputation, this is evaluated as an important indicator to measure the research performance and quality of research by universities.This year, 1,411 universities in 72 countries around the world that published more than 800 papers in international journals for four years from 2018 to 2021 were evaluated.In case of Korea, 51 universities were included in the evaluation.
The Leiden ranking, along with the overall rankings, consists of five fields including Mathematics & Computer Science, Biomedical & Health Science, Life & Earth Science, Physical Sciences & Engineering, Social sciences, and Social Science & Humanities.
